Ever since the quake and subsequent tsunami in Japan, I have been struck by how the Japanese have coped with the aftermath. Everything I have seen since on the conduct of so many affected by multiple losses, lack of information about missing loved ones and a sense of continued fear of the unknown has filled me with total respect for the Japanese.
I have sought an opinion by a reporter that captures that spirit well. Gideon clearly has an interest in making the comparisons with his native Israel. Ignoring that, he articulates my admiration for the Japanese in the face of extreme adversity very well.
Japan has certainly shown the rest of the world an excellent example of how a nation deals with a crisis, and the multitude of fears and challenges arising from it.
Please pray for Japan. And join me in saluting how they cope in the darkest hour.
