Only in Africa. Wonderfully true!

Some wonderful pictures to evoke memories of my childhood. There is no place like Africa!

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I had come across these wonderful images years ago. Now, thanks to a link by David McGirr, I am delighted to rediscover them on a great site.

Having spent all my childhood in the continent, I can vouch that these kinds of images is what sets Africa apart.

Enjoy...

Delightful!

A lot to admire in the ingenuity though...that determination to re-use, to keep patching up, to "mickey mouse" a solution....

Thanks R...been waiting all day for this....

No problem Raat. Always fun to share the lighter side.
Personally I've been looking at cats all day.

These are great!

I had a wonderful holiday in Zimbabwe, (before it all went horribly wrong), and I remember how I used to laugh every time I saw the road signs saying: "Robots Ahead".

Excellent. The "hot water" picture reminded me of my time in Guatemala. I was warned by my guide:

There are two dangers in the shower. #1, water is heated by a 220 volt apparatus attached to the shower head. Do not let your scalp touch the "Widow Maker". You will be promptly electrocuted. Secondly, do not let the water enter your mouth. It will make you violently ill...

That, together with the sinking taxi service in Uganda with a zillion people on it, were my favourites. The pole in the middle of the street in Nairobi must be well after my time.
